Oxford Academy Superintendent Search

For Immediate Release

Oxford Academy and Central School

The Oxford Academy and Central School Board of Education is pleased to announce that it has invited two candidates to interview for the position of Superintendent of Schools. Both of these candidates will be touring the district, meeting staff and students during the day and then introducing themselves and answering questions from the wider school community during a forum. The forum is open to the public at the Oxford Academy Performing Arts Auditorium in the evening of June 10th and June 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Board of Education began the search process by appointing DCMO District Superintendent Perry Dewey at their April 24, 2019 board meeting. In an effort to save the expense of hiring an interim Superintendent and to access the current local pool of highly qualified candidates, the Board chose an expedited selection process. Thus, candidates were interviewed by the Board of Education on May 29, 2019.  From the interviews, the Board has selected two finalists.

The finalists are as follows:

Mr. John Hillis lives in Greene, New York and has ten (10) years as a School Administrator at Chenango Forks Central School District. Before becoming an administrator he was a Social Studies Teacher for sixteen (16) years. Mr. Hillis will be interviewing on June 11. The public forum will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Oxford Academy Performing Arts Auditorium.

Mr. Scott Ryan lives in Norwich, New York and has eleven (11) years as a School Administrator at Norwich City School District. Before becoming an administrator he was a Social Studies Teacher for seven (7) years. Mr. Ryan will be interviewing on June 10. The public forum will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Oxford Academy Performing Arts Auditorium.

Again, the Board of Education would like to extend an invitation to all community members, Oxford Academy employees and students to attend both candidate forums. Please come and meet the candidates and listen to their entry plan presentations. At the end of their presentations, they will be answering questions that the community has selected.
