For the first time ever, an Oxford Academy team has earned 1st place in the New York State Odyssey of the Mind competition. Now known as Team New York, the four-student group made of Ahnalee Kappauf, Clara Leach, Gabby Palmer, and Emily Williams (aka “The Mighty Four”) will be competing at Michigan State University on May 24-27 alongside over 800 teams from across the globe.
Odyssey of the Mind teams are generally made up of 5-7 students, putting “The Mighty Four” at a disadvantage. Regardless of their small size, the team has been able to balance their time in sports, music, theater, and FFA all while maintaining their places on the High Honor Roll.
While the team is over the moon, they are politely asking the community for help in the form of financial support to assist in offsetting some of the cost of the trip and to enhance their Odyssey of the Mind World Finals experience.
If you are interested in making a donation, the team gratefully accepts donations via cash or check (made out to the Oxford Academy Odyssey of the Mind). Donations can be dropped off at any our Primary, Middle, or High School main offices, or mailed to:
