Sex Offender Notification

Sex Offender Notification

In accordance with New York State’s Sex Offender Registration Act, local law enforcement agencies notify school administrators of sex offenders living or working in our school district. Such information may include the offender’s address or zip code, photograph, crime conviction, modus of operation, type of victim targeted, and the description of any special conditions imposed on the offender.

Information sent to us by local law enforcement will be available to all school employees and posted on our website. Additionally, this information will be circulated to staff members who might have contact with offenders while working for the District. This includes building principals, assistant principals, staff who issue visitor passes, bus drivers, custodians, playground monitors, and coaches.

All staff members have been directed to notify their respective supervisors if they observe any suspicious person in an area where children congregate. Law enforcement officials will be notified when circumstances warrant such.

The Oxford Academy and Central School District is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our children while attending school. All of our schools have strict sign-in/sign-out procedures for students, and all visitors must first stop at a building's main office to obtain a visitor's pass. Passes must be worn for the duration of a visit and visible at all times. Additionally, our school curriculum includes teaching personal safety and stranger-awareness skills.

We encourage you to talk to your children about personal safety.
