7th and 8th Grade:

  • ELA 8:  This week was a significant one for Oxford Middle School’s eighth-grade students as they successfully completed the rigorous New York State Eighth Grade English Language Arts Exam. The students exhibited impressive focus and dedication throughout the testing period, and I am incredibly proud of their hard work. Based on their demeanor and initial reactions, there is a prevailing sense of confidence among the students regarding their performance on the exam. I hope their positive outlook is reflected in the final scores.

  • With the state exam now behind them, we have smoothly transitioned back into our regular curriculum. The students immediately jumped back into our shared reading experience of the novel Inside Out and Back Again. This powerful, award-winning book continues to be a focal point for our discussions on themes of immigration, identity, and resilience. We look forward to delving deeper into the remaining sections, exploring the poetic form of the text, and connecting Ha's journey with our own understanding of the world.

  • Thank you for your ongoing support! Please reach out to me with any questions at ncrandall@oxac.org.

  • Spanish 7: They have created a poster in Spanish to promote good health at school and home. They are very realistic and include simple changes that they can make in their lives to maintain good health. Some of their classwork is exhibited in the hallway near the Spanish classroom.

  • Spanish 8: They finish their catalogue of clothes and accessories in Spanish. They learned about money exchange and had the opportunity to browse a store in Spain. They had to select a few outfits and determine their cost in dollars using the conversion from Euros.

  • 7th grade science:  Students should be completing a study guide for their Cellular Processes test if they have not already completed it in class.  The key to the study guide will be posted in Google Classroom for students to make sure they are studying the correct information.  The Cellular Processes Unit Test will be on Tuesday.

  • 8th grade science:  Students just completed a quick overview of Newton's Laws of Motion.  We will be working on and completing the final NYS Laboratory on Weather next week.
