District Communication - Primary School Playground
April 16, 2026
Dear Oxford Families and Community Members,
I am writing to talk about some worries we have about the use of the Primary School playground. I will also clearly explain what we expect from everyone going forward.
Our playground is an important part of our school. We are proud to offer a place where children and families can meet, play, and connect. As part of our current building project, we are happy to improve these chances with more playground equipment at the Primary School. We are also putting in a new playground at the Middle School. These new things show our promise to our students and community. To make sure these places stay safe, respectful, and in good shape for everyone, it is important that all users follow the rules.
Please take a moment to read the following expectations:
- The playground is closed from sunset to sunrise. You cannot use it outside of these times. During the school week, the playground will be locked at these times. However, it may be unlocked on weekends, holidays, and school breaks.
- A responsible adult must watch children at all times.
- Use the playground at your own risk.
- Everyone must follow school rules. Show safe and respectful behavior on school grounds.
- Please clean up after yourselves. Throw away all trash and personal items.
- Pets and animals are not allowed on the playground or in nearby areas.
We have also heard about times when these rules were not followed. Sometimes, people were not respectful when talking to staff who were supervising. We ask for your help to remind your children of these rules. Please also support our staff as they work to keep all students safe.
Please also know that during after-school program hours, some parts of the playground may be set aside for students. Staff will watch over them. During these times, please respect these areas. This helps students in our care use the space safely.
If you do not follow these rules, you may be asked to leave the playground. You could also lose access to the space. We hope this does not happen. But it is important to keep the playground safe and respectful for everyone. We do not want to limit access. We want to make sure the playground is a safe, good, and fun place for everyone in our community. We thank you for your continued support and help in following these rules.
Thank you for your time and cooperation.
Sincerely, Nicholas A. Colosi
